09 Sep New chemo treatment, Thanksgiving and scooter!
Some changes in the last month. Recent scans show the current chemo treatment (carboplatin-based) effectiveness has waned- the cancer spots in liver and lungs have increased. Mom’s energy has also taken a downturn, so she has spent more time resting at home for a couple days after each treatment. Her oncologist decided it was time for mom to begin a second-line (immunotherapy) treatment. She will only have treatment every 3 weeks so will spend less time overall with the infusions.
We hope this treatment will keep her happy and well for the months to come. And well enough for a road trip down to Phoenix for Thanksgiving celebrations with Gwyn (and family), Charlie (and family), Claire (and family), and perhaps some extended family as well!
But the most exciting news is around mobility: mom loves her new scooter! Below are pictures from a recent trip to Alfalfa’s. With mom’s COPD this trip would previously have been via car only, but the new scooter allows her a much wider range of autonomy. Watch out Boulder, here she comes!
As always, much love and thanks to everyone!
