07 Jan First round over
Carol has completed the first round of chemo. The first two weeks with chemo (12/21 and 12/29) were a challenge for Carol to maintain her energy and strength. Last week (first week of January) was a week off. After a follow-up appointment on with a nurse at the Cancer Center she got IV liquids for dehydration on Wednesday and then a blood transfusion Thursday for low iron levels.
There are 5 more rounds to go for the full treatment. After 2-3 total rounds Carol will get another CT to determine if treatment has been effective and is worth the full 6 rounds or if she should consider a second-line treatment.
Carol’s children will fly up to be with their mother during the chemo rounds so those days are empty on the care calendar. The support of Carol’s communities has been overwhelming and comforting as we look to make sure mom has everything she needs.
Carol is still in good spirits and looks forward to recovery after the chemo is done.
