21 Dec Chemo #1
Carol had her first round of chemo today. First she received some anti-nausea meds before receiving two drugs (gemcitabine and carboplatin) intravenously. She is feeling good as far as the treatment goes and is not feeling any adverse side effects (we understand that may take a couple days or more to present). She did wake up this morning with bloody urine and intense pain when she stands up. This is seems to be another UTI which is what prompted her ER visit and subsequent hospital stay over Thanksgiving (same symptoms of bloody urine and intense pain). The Cancer Center said they would have the UA results by Friday so we can get some antibiotics going to clear up the infection and hopefully give her some relief from the pain so she can be up and about again. The next chemo session is next Wednesday.
