27 Dec Chemo #1- more care needed
Saturday and Sunday (December 24th and 25th) Carol experienced the full effect of her first chemo treatment. As we worked through finding companions to stay with her and see to her comfort and care her friends stepped up and came out to support her over the holiday weekend. It also became clear Carol needs something more organized and directed, stable and focused. Rather than have her family try to organize this from Phoenix and Austin we have reached out to several members of the community to help us put something into place. Ideally this will be some mix of in-home care by a trained professional (to see to day to day care and medical needs) and ongoing visits and support from her friends (visits, meals, companionship, love and practice).
While we are in the process of reorganizing care we ask for your patience and possibly even your flexibility. If you signed up on the care calendar we may ask you to come for a longer period or at a different time so we can ensure coverage for mom, or even to reschedule in the event she can’t see visitors. We hope to have something more permanent in place quickly so we are ready for the next chemo treatment in this first round on Thursday. Mom has a ride but certainly will need support after.
