With love in our hearts for our dear friend Carol let us raise the barn and do all we can to support her journey to good health.

Carol Crutchlow — brilliant actor, director, writer, teacher, comedian, beloved family member and treasured member of the community — needs our help.

A student and practitioner of Buddhism since 1969, Carol studied with Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, and now studies with Sakyong Mipham, Rinpoche.  She is a former Resident Director of Shambhala Training. She currently directs all levels of Shambhala training and is also a teacher for the Monday Night Community Gathering, Beginning to Mediate, and the Way of Shambhala series.

Carol taught Theatre at The Naropa University for 12 years, and was part of many productions there and elsewhere.  In addition to her one-woman show, “Carol Crutchlow Beside Herself,” she was a performer and writer in “The Trickster” and “The Trickster Returns” with the Holy Cow Theatre Company.

Carol currently enjoys chairing the Resident Council for her senior apartment complex. The Council works to grow and organize the community of 70+ residents and promotes dignity and harmony among residents and staff.

Carol was diagnosed in December 2016 with Stage 4 cancer, and needs assistance in paying for medical and related expenses.

Carol has been a delightful friend, fellow artist and performer,  enthusiastic companion in the consumption of food and wine, a true listener to all our woes, an active cheerleader for our victories, and of course a wise and wonderful teacher for us all. As her friends, it is time for us to step up in one of the simplest and profound ways, by supporting her financially through her recent diagnosis .

In August mom had a scan which showed the tumor in her kidney had grown. This meant that the chemo was no longer working so mom switched to immunotherapy. Last week she had her first scan since starting the new treatment which showed even more......

Some changes in the last month. Recent scans show the current chemo treatment (carboplatin-based) effectiveness has waned- the cancer spots in liver and lungs have increased. Mom’s energy has also taken a downturn, so she has spent more time resting at home for a couple......

Apologies for the lack of updates- this is a definite case of “no news is good news”! Mom is still undergoing weekly chemo treatment and continues to respond incredibly well. Recent scans show the tumor in her left kidney is reduced considerably and the kidney......
